1.43 veillard 19: <p><b>rpm2html</b> automatically generate Web pages describing a set of <a
1.31 veillard 20: href="http://www.rpm.org/">RPM</a> packages. Preliminary results obtained by
21: running it on a local mirror of Redhat distribution and the RedHat contrib
22: directores are available. SuSE-5.1 RPM packages have been added as well a
23: XFree86 updates from SuSE, especially useful for the new chipsets. I added
24: also OpenLinux Lite 1.1.1 to the list of dristribution, and added warning when
1.43 veillard 25: a package doesn't provide a correct set of resources.</p>
1.31 veillard 26: <p>
27: The goals of rpm2html are also to identify the dependencies between various
28: packages and to find the package(s) providing the resources needed to install
29: a given package. Every package is analyzed to retrieve its dependencies and
30: the resources it offers. These relationships are expressed using hyperlinks in
31: the generated pages. Finding the package providing the resource you need is
32: just a matter of a few clicks!</p>
33: <p>
34: The ultimate commodity is ensured by indexing this set of pages, allowing the
35: user to find instantaneously the package(s) providing any given functionality
36: (as long as the package maintainer has properly commented the RPM).</p>
37: <p>
38: Rpm2html now support <a href="http://www.w3.org/Metadata/">RDF </a>encoding
39: and decoding of RPM metadata. The long term goal is to provide metadata
40: information for RPM packages on a large scale and use them to automate
1.32 veillard 41: searching, installing and upgrade linux packages.</p>
1.35 veillard 42: <p>
1.41 veillard 43: Rpm2html is free software, released under the
44: <a href="http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/copyright-software.html"
45: >W3C License</a>.</p>

1.47 ! daniel 55: <img src="va.gif" alt="logo of ">VAResearch</A> for
1.46 veillard 56: supporting the RPM archives. They provided me with a Wide SCSI card and
57: a Wide SCSI cable to avoid using the on-board Adaptec wich still tend to
58: hang the machine every couple of months. Making all the devices work happily
59: together took quite some time and resulted in a 2 hours downtime, sorry,
60: hopefully the machine will be stable now.</p>
61: <p>
1.47 ! daniel 62: I was running out of disk space so I got a new 11 Gig drive. I now
1.46 veillard 63: also mirror the sources RPMs. I also added the latest
64: <a href="/linux/SuSE-Linux/5.3">SuSE 5.3</a> distribution, at least the

66: If you think I'm missing a major RPM based distribution,
